A 100-year-old fish?
There’s something a bit fishy happening off the coast of Alaska after experts say a fish caught from the sea could be 100 years old. The giant shortraker rock-fish weighs the same as a small child and was caught from a deep part of the sea. Scientists carried out some tests on the female fish and think that it could be aged between 90 and 115 years. The captured fish was a massive one metre long — but it didn’t break the record of 1.2m. The experts were able to work out the age of the fish by looking at one of its ear bones which contains growth rings — similar to those found in tree trunks.
