A celebration of indigenous beauty

Kathmandu: In a grand finale of the Indigenous Kanchha-Kanchhi and Miss Indigenous 2005, Dharmendra Thapa, Anusha Shrestha and Sujana Gurung were crowned the title of ‘Mr Kanchha, Miss Kanchhi and Miss Indigenous 2005’ respectively at BICC on June 18. Upasana Rai, who won tumultuous applause from the audience, won the first runner up title of Miss Indigenous 2005. Siwani Palikhe clinched the second runner up crown. A total of 29 boys and 14 girls below 11 years of age contested the Kanchha and Kanchhi (youngest of a family) pageant while 10 teenagers flaunted their talent and skills on the ramp. Stuti Khadgi and Nilisha Bhuju stood first and second runner up in the Miss Kanchhi competition while Patrik Rai and Sanket Rai won the titles of first and second runners up in Indigenous Kanchha. Abha Mukarung drew cheers from a thousand plus audience by dint of her charming voice. — HNS
