A day in a farmer’s life
Early in the morning he goes to the farm
To sow wheat, maize, paddy and gram
He digs the soil with a spade
He never minds the sun, and no shade
Sometimes extreme rain shakes his crops
Sometimes he has to pray for the drops
He works till sunset
When he reaches home its
always late
He works hard for his
children and wife
And also for his own
valuable life.
— Dristi Adhikari, Class VII, Shishu Niketan, Pokhara
Tigers :
Tigers are strong and big
They live in the jungle
Tigers sleep during day
And hunt in the night
Tigers can jump
But cannot fly.

Blue, blue sky :
See the blue sky
Where the birds fly
The birds are very happy
Because the sky is not cloudy
I wonder why the sky is blue
But I don’t have any clue
I dream to walk in the sky
But I don’t have any wings to fly
When the sky is bright
Everything is in sight
When the sky is dark
Even dogs don’t like to bark.
— Aparmita Shakya, Class VII, Emerald Academy
Winged beauties :
Birds are beautiful
creatures
Some birds are faithful
And carry message from one place to another
Some birds are of great use to us
Birds like many things
Which gives energy
They have hollow bones
Which helps them fly
Some people kill birds
So, we should be careful
And try to protect them.
— Sanu Shrestha, Class VI, Nightingale Int’l Boarding School
Questions :
I ask myself on
What makes me wonder
Is it the blue sky or
The loud thunder?
The ground’s grass green
Or anything around us that can be seen?
The fresh apple red
Or a little baby in bed?
The ever moving waterfall
Or answering questions in the exam hall?
The flying brown lark
Or the ocean’s dangerous shark?
The waves lapping the shore
Or the picture above the door?
