Following its immense success in the past, Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd is bringing together yet another stellar ensemble of the most popular singers of Nepali pop at Bhrikuti Mandap on June 18. “Shikhar Lights Music Concert,” which is a one-day grand affair, will feature Raju Lama, Kranti Aale, Robin and The New Revolution, Angel Band, Sabin Rai, Nima Rumba and 1974 AD. The bands will be performing live for an enthusiastic crowd. Lama, who is excited about the concert, says, “It feels good to perform for audiences who really CAN appreciate music.” Lama’s melodious voice has always remained the talk of the town. Lama, who embarked on a career in music some 13 years ago, is known for his melodious songs that touch the spirit of young hearts. Born in Sindhupalchowk, Lama acquired an early taste in music and has recorded more than a hundred songs. ‘Ubho Ubho Khasa Ma Janda’, ‘Timilai Dekhera’ and ‘Sayad Timro Batoma’are among his all time favourites. ‘Soltini’, ‘Mongolian Heart Vols. 1, 2 & 3’ and ‘Mongolian Heart Solid Gold’ and, ‘Donbo’ (a Tamang album) are the albums released by his band, the Mongolian Heart.

Lama has gathered wide recognition as one of the most popular Nepali singers in America, Japan, Hong Kong, the UK and Korea during his concerts. Besides, he has also several accolades under his belt that range from Best Vocal Performance and Best Composition, 1996, (Sajjan Smriti Nepali Pop Song Competition), Music Nepal Gold Medal 1997, Best Folk Pop Song of 2003 (AHA Pop Music Award) and Best Group or Duo with Vocals (Hits FM Music Awards 2003). Balkrishna Gurung, brand manager of Surya Nepal, says: ”This will be a major success and the best event of its kind.” Truly, this concert is not a competition as it has been in the past but it definitely one music show of its kind.
