A young girl’s diary

Anne Frank’s remarkable diary, based on the horrors of the World War II and human sufferings, has become a classic today and is a must read for all.

Anne Frank, a young Jewish girl with a wish to be a journalist some day and later on a famous writer, went into hiding with her family in ‘the Secret Annexe’ in 1942 to get away from the Nazis.

It was a time of anxiety when families were torn apart. The men, women, children of a family were being separated. Her diary is basically based on the Jews and Germans, who were enemies then. Burglars and theft abound. Black market was a great success.

She often asks herself, “Oh! What is the use of war? Why all these destruction?” In her opinion, “paper is patient than man”.

Her diary is her record of the vivid impressions and amazing experiences during

that period when she went into hiding.
