An excellent read
Written by Graham Greene, who was counted as one of the greatest British prose writers of the Twentieth Century, The Third Man is a thriller, full of suspense. It was published in Denmark by Sang Rill Garfish Production, Holmes-Olstrup. The cover layout was done by Mette Plesner.
It is a fiction intended mainly for the age group 13-30 years, and has a brilliant plot with a stunning climax. It is a tale of friendship, trust and betrayal. It tells not only the story of friendship and dedication, but also the intrigue that continues to haunt the reader long after the last page has been read.
The Third Man is a fast paced and exciting novel written in simple language. Written in the past tense in third person narrative, the setting of the story is in Vienna. The story is easy to follow and understand.
The impressive characters of the story are Rollo Martins, Harry Lime, Cooler, Dr Winkler, Kurtz, Calloway, Anna Schmidt, Koch, Paine, Dexter, Crabbin and Harbin. The well-sequenced dialogues and unexpected twists create a feeling of enthusiasm and temptation to know more about what’s going to happen next.
The writer’s work is worth appreciating, but it would have been better if the use of French words and abbreviations had been avoided. Overall it is an outstanding book with a splendid plot and dialogues.
A must read for all.
