Best foot forward

KATHMANDU: The secret behind keeping your feet fresh and beautiful is to keep it healthy. A little care and attention is all that your feet need. Remember exercise is very necessary for feet and the best is walking. A barefoot walk on a dewy grass in the morning will work wonders as it is refreshing and invigorating for the entire body.

Also make sure that your shoes are comfortable; ill-fitting shoes are the main reason behind many health problems related to feet. Try and avoid shoes with high heels and pointed toes. The shoes that support the arch of your foot and provide enough room for your toes are the best fit.

Also check your feet everyday for any signs of trauma like redness, blisters, cuts, cracks, swelling or colour changes. If you see any signs get a medical check up done.

•After this use a small brush to buff your feet one at a time, this will remove dead skins. Put your feet back into the water after brushing.

•Use foot scrub lotion on areas with rough spot like heels or the side of your toes.

•When you are done scrubbing, rub off any rough skin that’s left with a pumice stone.

•Rinse you feet after this and dry your feet with a soft towel. Be sure to dry the areas between your toes thoroughly.

•Moisturise your feet with lotion, peppermint lotion can be very soothing and relaxing.

•Trim your nails properly but don’t cut them too short. Short nails at the edges might dig into the skin leading to ingrown nails.
