Bipasha de-glamorises for Bengali film

MUMBAI:

Glamorous Bipasha Basu will be seen in a new avatar in Rituparno Ghosh’s neo-realistic film Shob Choritroi Kalponik (All Characters are Imaginary) — in starched cotton saris and long blouses. And the actress is looking forward to her first Bengali role.

“I don’t know why people think it’s tough to do realistic roles. Not at all! It’s the fantasy that’s hard to make real. For my role in Ritu-da’s film the cotton saris, long blouses and a bindi took care of the physicality,” Bipasha said.

“Having a co-star like Prasenjit also helps. He’s a very big star here in Bengal, but he has no ego. He’s so eager to make every scene come alive. No starry airs on Ritu-da’s set. We’re one big family,” she added.

The actress binged big-time while in Kolkata for the shooting, throwing all caution to the winds. “On Rituparno Ghosh’s sets they served two kinds of fish every day for lunch. Plus, a lot of mishti doi (sweet curd) and other sweets,” she said.
