Book on traditional art

Kathmandu:

Pauva art form dates back to ancient Nepal and has helped give a distinct identity to Nepali art in the global scenario. In spite of its immense importance, there still exists less knowledge among people regarding the actual technique of making the traditional art. Paramparaya Chwajya Bidhi by Prem Man Pun seeks to shed light on this.

Written in Newari language, the 210-page book also describes the traditional way of making colours for the Pauva art.

Although they play an important role, critics say

many of today’s Pauva artists have not been using the traditional colours, which has negatively affected their work’s quality.

Apart from this, the book also includes the way the brushes were made.

On the whole, the book, priced at Rs 300, seems helpful to artists and lovers to gain more knowledge on the traditional Nepali art.
