Chinese language centre opens
KATHMANDU:
You’ve tested your proficiency level in English through IELTS and TOEFL, now test your proficiency in Chinese language. The Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) or the Chinese Language Proficiency Test has made its entry for the first time in Nepal here at the Universal Language and Computer Institute (ULCI).
The Chinese ambassador Sun He Ping inaugurated the Chinese Language Proficiency Testing Centre on December 26. Joint secretaries from the ministries of education, and foreign affairs also graced the occasion.
The HSK is a series of tests conducted to assess a non-native speaker’s proficiency in Chinese language vis-à-vis their communication and understanding. Since its inception, it has
been embraced by over 150 testing centres in over 34 countries worldwide.
“The HSK will further the interest of the Nepalis in learning Chinese language and culture, and thus help bolster friendly relationship between the two countries,” said the ambassador.
“It is very important to communicate to strengthen the friendly relations between China and Nepal. The introduction of HSK is a step in that direction,” said principal of ULCI, Uttam Prasad Pant.
