Clothed in linen

KATHMANDU:

For those people to whom looking stylish also means comfort, there can be no better fabric than linen. This nature-friendly fabric is not only comfortable in different weather conditions, but is also apt for almost all occasions.

This very fabric, which was regarded as the ‘gift of God’ by the ancient Egyptians, is also available in Kathmandu at the Linen Club Fabrics and Boutique. Located at Durbar Marg, the place has a huge variety of the finest linen and according to the Club chairman Sushil Agrawal, besides selling the fabric, the place also has tailoring facility.

The collection includes pure linen, linen rich with cotton, dyed woven, linen-silk, hand painted linen embroidered linen.

Although the place came into existence sometime ago, they have been seeing more foreigners and expats. In order to reach out to the locals, they are organising a special seven-day ‘Linen fabric festival’.

“Earlier it was only foreigners who bought this fabric, but now the fabric is in demand even among the locals. So seeing this growing popularity of this fabric, we decided to hold this festival which in a way is the launching of this store,” said Agarwal.

He further added that the fabrics are being sold at a special price (read less) for the duration of the festival.

All the fabrics available here are from the Jaya Shree Textiles, an Aditya Birla Group company, which has been producing linen since 1949.

The store remains open from 10:00 am till 10:00 pm.
