LONDON: Close friends of music moghul Simon Cowell have confirmed he is engaged to girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy and is planning the ‘biggest showbiz wedding for years’.

Cowell’s friends have confirmed that he proposed to girlfriend Hussainy on Valentine’s Day, reports thesun.co.uk.

“Simon’s definitely engaged. I’ve never seen him so happy. He’s known Mezhgan several years and they’ve grown close. He finally popped the question,” said a friend.

“He knows it’s right this

time. It will be the biggest showbiz wedding in years,” the friend added.

The couple met on the sets of American Idol seven years ago and have been dating for six months. They appeared in public together for the first time earlier this month.
