The closing ceremony of the Indigenous Film Workshop was held at Nepal Tourism Board on January 8. The chief guest for the programme was Finn Thilsted, Ambassador of Denmark and the chairperson was Nabin Subba. Jitpal Kirat, Pasang Sherpa, Ishwor Chandra Gyawali, Subash Niraula, Yubraj Lama were present at the programme.
In the workshop conducted at Nagarkot from December 19 to 23. The 31 participants learnt a lot about different aspects of film-making. Starting from film appreciation to film history they continued with editing, script writing, acting and cinematography. The sessions were conducted by Tsering Rhitar Sherpa, Siddartha Shakya, Rajesh Gongaju, Anup Baral and Anup Subedi.
After these sessions were conducted all the participants were divided into five groups and given a week’s time for preparation. Then it was upto them to shoot their films within eight hours with a budget of Rs 5,000. The films shot by them were screened at NTB on January 8. The short films dealt with various issues like human emotions, problems faced by villagers in this city and the difference that persists between various communities were also depicted in an interesting way.
