Kathmandu :

The Sunsilk Nepal Fashion Week is a platform for designers of all colours and styles to present their cuts and drapes. From fashion design students to established designers, the week gives them an equal chance to showcase their creativity. And with such a varied group, the show sure promises to be zesty and colourful.

Funky and lively :

Their collection has made use of denim, so think blue. And, of course, white. Denim’s attraction is forever, they say, and is right for all occasions. With tucks and frills and hand and machine embroidery, these enthusiastic young designers promise that they have given an entirely new look to the dependable denim. Having named the collection ‘Jolly Punch’, it is of course believed that this sequence will be full of life.

Collection’s USP: “It’s for the young generation and is funky,” say Amit Bhandari and Pushpanjali Lama, who love Giorgio Armani and Ritu Kumar creations.

Mountain mists :

Inspired by the Himalayas, their collection is definitely going to be ‘white’, but they say it will have “shades of white, pastels and ash”. Done in synthetic fabrics like chiffon, they’ve used crochett, embroidery, white stonework. The collection will see one piece attire like skirts and midis.

Staying dry in style :

Now, here’s a group that has come up with a very innovative idea — designer raincoats. They believe that even the gloomy rainy season is an excuse to look fashionable. So, theey’ve covered the plastic raincoats with colourful floral and fruit and fish designs. Not only that, there are hats, bags, umbrellas and slippers to match. That’s one stylish way ot stay dry. And if you need matching outfits for your raingear, they’ve short skirts, shorts in cordroy, satin silk, lycra and chiffon.

Collection’s USP: “It’s the only designer rainwear you’ll find here,” say Shalini Agrawal, Pratistha Shrestha, Sarita Bohora, Manika Shrestha and Sushma Shresttha, whose favourite designers are Ritu Beri, and you guessed it — Manish Malhotra.
