Depardieu dreams remake

Rome: French screen star Gerard Depardieu says he dreams of starring alongside Italian comedian Roberto Benigni in a remake of the 1950s Italian social satire movie “The Little World of Don Camillo.” 1950s legend Fernandel starred in the five original films playing a lanky priest who ministers to a small Italian town and clashes with its portly Communist mayor. Though they are reluctant to admit it, the pair are fond of each other. “I have a dream of making Don Camillo with Roberto Benigni, he in the cassock and me in the role of the mayor, Peppone,” says Depardieu in an interview with Sorrisi e Canzone (Smiles and Songs).— AFP
