DiCaprio’s guards held
JERUSALEM:
Israeli police have detained bodygards of Leonardo DiCaprio after a clash in Jerusalem with paparazzi photographers trailing the US film star and his Israeli girlfriend.
The mayhem erupted when DiCaprio and Israeli model Bar Refaeli visited the Western Wall in the Old City on March 12 and were greeted by a horde of photographers who have been following the couple’s every move since they arrived in Israel.
A scuffle ensued between DiCaprio’s bodyguards and photographers, leaving one cameraman lightly injured and two bodyguards detained, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told AFP.
“Fists flew. One photographer was lightly wounded and two of DiCaprio’s bodyguards were detained for questioning,” Rosenfeld said.
The couple, who arrived on Sunday, also toured the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem which opened after-hours for the visit, media reported. The visit by 32-year-old DiCaprio and his 21-year-old girlfriend has touched off a media frenzy, with the paparazzi staking out the house of Refaeli’s parents in Hod Hasharon near Tel Aviv.
