DMX learns to walk comfortably

LOS ANGELES: DMX had to learn a new way to walk and talk to play a drug dealer in the new film Never Die Alone. DMX plays King David, who tells his life story in audiotapes after his death in the adaptation of a book by Donald Goines. “I had to learn how to walk comfortably in a suit because I don’t wear suits at all,” he said. “That was like one of the hardest things, not just walk in it, but walk like I like to wear suits.” He also had to learn to talk slower.

“I didn’t think King David is amped as I am,” he said. “I don’t think he has as much energy as I do, so I had to slow the whole thing down.”“I actually become the character for the duration of the movie, on and off set,” he said. “I try to stay not all the way in, where I expect somebody to call me King or something, but I might take the walk home, you know, or the way the character talks, I might take that home, or the body language.” — AP
