Edu bytes: Art competition held

Kathmandu:

Elite Ladies Circle - 2 organised an inter school art competition, Reach for the Child on December 9 at Hotel Soaltee. One-hundred-eighty-five students from 18 sch-ools had participated in the competition. Thirty children from the Self Help Group for Cerebral Palsy also took part. Cultural expert Satya Mohan Joshi was the chief guest. The artworks were judged by senior artists Madan Chitrakar, Kiran Manandhar and Shashi Shah.

Various themes were given to these children to display their artistic talents depending on their age groups. The winners of the competition were as follows-

Junior category: Best concept - Ritesh Shrestha, GEMS, Best composition - Biniv Shakya - Shuvatara School and Best artist - Harshita Agrawal, British School.

Sub-junior category: Best concept - Shivani Agrawal, Rupy’s International School, Best composition - Pratikshya Gurung, Rato Bangla School and Best artist - Shreyas Pradhan, Rupy’s International School.

Senior category: Best concept - Lipika Dugar, Rai School, Best composition - Nina Gurung, Budhanilkantha School and Best artist - Rina Joshi, Suryabinayak School.

A special award was given to Ashwin Rai from the Cerebral Palsy centre.

The event was organised to help the centre and create awareness about cerebral palsy.

The proceeds from the event will be given to Self Help Group for Cerebral Palsy. The main sponsor of the event was Wai Wai, Chaudhary Group.
