Los Angeles: Sir Elton John has slammed the Live 8 concert, saying it was a huge disappointment. Elton said it lacked quality acts and there was no “sense of occasion”. Even though his duet performance with controversial rocker Pete Doherty was declared as the worst performance of the event Elton said he was not the only performer who disappointed. He said that it was impossible to repeat the spectacle of the original 1985 Live Aid that he was also a part of. He said: “I was very pleased to be a part of it, but I didn’t think it was anywhere near as good as the first one... There was no sense of occasion and from a musical point, I didn’t think there were too many highlights. Pete was a mess. I don’t think the people around him set a good example, which is a shame.”
