ESSAY: Cooking up happiness

Happiness is a state of mind. It is like perfume. You cannot spray happiness on others without getting some on yourself. Happiness gets multiplied when divided. Life has plenty of happiness stored for us. We can find happiness in little things like a baby’s smile, a bird’s song, gift from a friend and love of a mother.

Happiness comes from giving your best to your work and doing it with joy and integrity. It does not merely come from doing easy work, but from having done difficult and challenging work. Happiness also comes from serving the poor and needy. Here’s a perfect recipe for happiness: Take one pound of kindness. Stir with thoughts that bless. Plenty of fun will add spice to it. Patience will make it nice. Don’t weigh love. Mix it carefully. You have made happy day.
