LONDON:

Actress Michelle Williams, who was romantically involved with the late Australian actor Heath Ledger, had expressed her fears for him in a recent interview.

She spoke to a movie site last year and said Ledger was very upset with the attacks on his personal character by the Australian media, contactmusic.com reports. A photographer attacked Ledger and Williams with a water pistol at a premiere. This occurred after two journalists claimed that Ledger spat on them.

She said, “They’ve been really tough on Heath, and he takes it personally. They’ve been tossing out this stuff about him being a spitter, and it really hurts his feelings. He’s not that way at all. The only spitter in our house is (daughter) Matilda.” Ledger’s friend Neil Armfield, who is a director, believes Ledger was upset that he could not return to Australia because they hated him there.
