KATHMANDU:

The First Ozark Mountain Biking Championship is being held on February 8 and 9 as a part of the Nuwakot Festival 2063. The event, which is being jointly organised

by the Explore Himalaya Group with Ozark Company and Bike Hub, is being held with the intention of promoting Nuwakot as a tourist destination with a rich historical and cultural heritage.

A thrilling experience awaits those who are willing to traverse on the off-beaten tracks and explore the natural and cultural beauty Nuwakot has to offer. The total distance to be covered is 61 km with the rally beginning from Kathmandu Durbar Square to Budhanilkantha.

The actual race will begin from Budhanilkantha and the finish point is Nuwakot. The 46-km-long race will begin at Budhanilkantha and go through Gunju Bhanjyang, Gurung Gaun, Chhahare, Dhikure Bazaar, Rawalswara and end in Nuwakot Durbar.

Along with the trophies, the winner and the first and second runners-up will also receive cash prizes worth Rs 25,000, Rs15,000 and Rs10,000 respectively.

For those interested in participating, one has to bring along his own bike and pay an entrance fee of Rs 200.

Accommodation and food will be provided to all participants. Participation is open to Nepalis and foreigners, professionals and amateurs, and there is no age bar.
