Australian movie star Nicole Kidman Monday gave birth to a baby girl, according to a statement from a publicist for her husband, country singer Keith Urban.

“Nicole and Keith Urban are delighted to announce that Nicole Kidman gave birth to a baby girl Monday morning in the US,” spokesperson Allen Eichhorn said. “Husband Keith was by Nicole’s side and mother and baby are very well,” he said.

The baby was named Sunday Rose Kidman Urban and weighed 2.9 kg. She was the first biological child for Kidman, 41, who has two adopted children with her former husband Tom Cruise.

Country singer Ronnie Dunn, a friend Kidman and Urban, believes the US Independence Day fireworks celebration caused his friend to go into labour and eventually give birth to a baby girl.

Kidman celebrated the holiday with Dunn, reports.

He said, “Nicole told me Friday night that she was hoping that my fireworks would do it. I’m overjoyed for them.”
