Fishing converts Macca

LONDON:

Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney has spoken about the moment he decided to become a vegetarian. He revealed it was while fishing that he reconsidered his love of fishing and non-vegetarian food, contactmusic.com reports. McCartney in a statement on the ‘I Am A Vegetarian’ poster wrote, “Many years ago, I was fishing, and as I was reeling in the poor fish, I realised, ‘I am killing it — all for the passing pleasure it brings me’. Something inside me clicked. I realised as I watched him fight for breath, that his life was as important to him as mine is to me.”

McCartney made the revelation for the new People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) poster. He appears wearing a t-shirt saying “Eat No..” and a picture of a cow. —HNS
