George Lopez to host next Latin Grammys

NEW YORK: George Lopez will return as host of the Latin Grammys, the Latin Recording Academy said Wednesday. The fifth annual awards show is set for September. 1 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, and is scheduled to air live on CBS. Nominations will be announced July 14. Lopez, 43, also hosted last year’s Latin Grammys in Miami, where Colombian singer-songwriter Juanes swept the major categories.

“I am truly honoured that George has agreed to return for this great musical event,” said Gabriel Abaroa, the Latin Recording Academy’s president. “We can’t wait to see what he has in store for our diverse audience.” The comedian is the co-creator, writer, producer and star of the ABC sitcom ‘George Lopez’. He also just released his autobiography, titled ‘Why You Crying? My Long, Hard Look at Life, Love and Laughter’.
