Glamorous tresses

KATHMANDU: Regular grooming is the key when it comes to hair care. Overall rehydration of your hair is vital, so go for concentrated conditioning treatment once a week. This will increase the moisture level and rebuild the structure leaving your locks not only shiny but also healthy. Regular haircuts are also important. Even those with long hair have to trim their hair from time to time.

For many women the major concern while getting ready for a party or a girl’s night out is managing their mane. Everybody knows that a perfect hairdo can do wonders to your looks and thus one has to work on the tresses to get it right. Here are couple of tips, which may help you.

•If you have to attend some party, wake up earlier than your usual time in the morning to give your mane a super sleek blowout before leaving for work. It will keep your hair looking good even later no matter how you want to style it — put it up or just wear it down.

•To get the perfectly straight strands, flip your head over and use a flat iron to smooth out any kinky pieces under your hair, after you have finished blow-drying your hair. You can use a mirror to help you see.

•In order to enhance the natural hue of your hair and add tons of shine to your tresses, use a temporary colour-depositing conditioner. For best results (which will last through few shampoos), let it sit on just-washed hair for about 15 minutes before rinsing out.

•Spray a small amount of fragrance on your fingertips and then run them through your hair. The scent will linger in your locks for hours.

•In case your hair starts looking frizzy after you have styled it, just wet your hands and smooth your palms over your strands. The water will reactivate any products you applied for styling.

•To pump up the volume of your hair and get the tousled strands, switch your hair dryer to the cool setting after you have finished blow-drying your hair. Then flip your head over, and aim the nozzle around randomly for a few minutes. This creates pockets of air between your locks so they look extra full.

•For those who want to wear a ponytail and still look glamorous, use a fine-tooth comb to tease your roots at the crown of your head. Then gather your hair into a low ponytail and secure with a thin rubber band. Pull out a one-inch piece of hair at the back, wrap it around the elastic, and secure the end underneath the ponytail with a bobby pin.

•A glittery accessory adds instant glamour to any hairstyle. If you don’t have one, use a brooch from your sweater.
