KATHMANDU: The Wildlife Conservation Nepal (WCN), Youth and Environment Conservation Awareness Program (ECAP) has announced the ‘Amateur Nature and Wildlife Photography Competition 2006’ inviting applications from all amateur Nepali photographers.

Participants will have to submit three copies of 8’x12’ size photographs. “The vision of the competition is to promote nature and wildlife photography with special focus on backyard photography amongst amateur Nepali photographers,” says Sanivani Yonjan, coordinator, ECAP. She believes that there are other beautiful places besides the mountains.

The 10 best photographs will be featured in ECAP greeting cards. The fund raised from the sale will be put back into conservation awareness programme. ECAP has been organising the competition for the last two years.

Photography being a strong medium to articulate the message, the contest recognises photographers as an important component of our society who can reinforce conservation values by reaching out to people of all ages. Participants can submit their entries at WCN offices.
