Godfather wanted to be TV presenter

LONDON: Legendary Hollywood actor Marlon Brando, who immortalised the character of Vito Corleone in Godfather, reportedly tried to get a job as a daytime TV presenter shortly before his death. Brando apparently wanted the job to boost his flagging bank balance. The actor’s former assistant has said that Brando also contemplated selling goods on US home shopping channel QVC in 2000 because he had only $ 9,000 left in his account.

The star was so desperate to work for QVC that he allegedly held discussions with a network executive just a year before his death, the Contactmusic reported.

“Marlon was serious about QVC. He had a meeting with a woman from the channel,” Brando’s

aide Alice Marchak writes in a new book.

Marlon Brando died of respiratory failure in 2004 at the age of 80.
