Govinda’s wife, children hurt, secy dies in accident

Jaipur: Film actor and Congress MP Govinda’s wife and two children were in a stable condition

after being injured Monday in a road accident on their way to Ajmer in Rajasthan while his secretary was killed instantly. Doctors attending on the actor’s family at the Sawai Man Singh hospital said all three were conscious. “They are out of danger,” hospital superintendent CP Mathur said, referring to Govinda’s wife Sunita, elder daughter Namrata, 17, and son Yashowardhan, 10. Govinda’s secretary, Rishab, died when a truck hit a van in which they were travelling, hospital sources said. He was declared brought dead. Rishab, a former Delhi-based journalist had been Govinda’s long-standing secretary. The condition of the driver, initially identified as Robert but now named as Abdul, was said to be critical. The accident occurred at 12.30 p.m. at Bagru, 30 km from here on the newly inaugurated Jaipur-Kishengarh expressway. “The van was travelling at high speed towards Ajmer. The driver swerved to avoid a child and the vehicle smashed through the divider into the other carriageway, where an oncoming truck hit it,” Jaipur collector Rajeshwar Singh said. Govinda’s family was on its way to the urs of Moinudeen Chisti in Ajmer. The actor is a great believer of the Sufi saint, family sources said. Govinda, who was not with his family, is on his way to Jaipur from Mumbai in a chartered aircraft.
