Grammy fever in town

KATHMANDU: We’ve only a day before witnessed Dixie Chicks and Red Hot Chilli Peppers win big at the 49th Grammy Awards. And didn’t we wish if only some of the Grammy winners would perform here.

Well, your prayers have been answered because two-time Grammy-winning band from Los Angeles Ozomatli will be performing live in Kathmandu on February 17. And what’s more the concert to be held at Khulla Manch is has no entry fee.

This nine-member American band, known for both a unique urban sound and dedication to addressing social issues, will perform the concert to promote peace and understanding through diversity in music. Being a multi-ethnic, multi-racial, Latin hip-hop band, Ozo-matli is a living example that music can transcend any cultural or social boundary.

Touring India and Nepal for the first time in its 12-year history under the auspices of the American Centers in New Delhi and Kathmandu, and USAID/Nepal, Ozomatli will perform in Kathmandu with the message “different instruments but one rhythm, together we can make a prosperous Nepal”.

Our own rock band Robin and the New Revolution will open the concert. Their music, which needs no introduction, combines different musical styles. The concert at Khula Manch will start at 2:00 pm, and gates open at 12:00 noon.
