MUMBAI: Amitabh Bachchan claims he is the “top” tax payer in India with IRs 155.9 million. He was reacting to a report that said Hrithik Roshan was the highest tax payer with IRs 151 million for 2006-2007 and Shah Rukh paid IRs 140 million.

“My name isn’t mentioned among the top taxpayers of the entertainment business. This gives the false impression that I make pots of money and don’t pay enough taxes,” he said.

Big B said, “If you look at the figures you’ll see Amitabh, that’s yours truly, has paid IRs 141.5 million and from our company AB Corp Ltd, we’ve paid IRs 14.4 million. Abhishek has paid IRs 47.5 million. And now that Aishwarya is a part of the family, approximately IRs 50 million tax money has come from her. This makes it a total of IRs 253 million. And yet they’ve put Hrithik as the top most taxpayer! Even if you take my tax figures individually I still top.”
