Hollywood favoured Bridges
LOS ANGELES: Jeff Bridges admits having famous parents made it easier for him to be successful in Hollywood, even though he initially didn’t want to be an actor.
The Crazy Heart star - who has been nominated for Best Actor at the forthcoming Academy Awards - admits he was reluctant to follow his parents Lloyd and Dorothy Bridges into Hollywood.
He said, “My dad loved showbusiness. Travelling around, working with other people and he encouraged me to go into it. But, typical kid, you don’t want to do what your parents want you to do. You don’t want to be liked because of who your father is.”
He added, “The hardest thing about acting is getting a foot in the door and that was all handled by my dad. The fact is, I’m a product of nepotism. And that took some getting used to.
“Life will supply you with gutters. Having a famous father. Feeling that stench
of nepotism. That’s a gutter right there.”
