Housekeepers ‘clean’ Beckingham palace

LONDON: A housekeeper couple has been arrested on suspicion of theft from ‘Beckingham’ Palace, the British residence of football star David Beckham and former Spice Girls singer Victoria.

Victoria’s parents called in the police after recognising some of the items put up for sale on an Internet site. They visited the house and found identical items missing. Officers of the Hertfordshire Police arrested the housekeepers, a couple in their 50s, at their home in Essex. They are being questioned.

A source close to Victoria’s parents, Tony and Jackie Adams, told The Telegraph that the latter recognised the items right away as they were all unique personal and sentimental items specially made for the star couple. The reportedly stolen items included expensive trinkets and display pieces. Together they add up to a sizeable value which goes up further thanks to the star tag, the source said.

The Beckhams, who live in the US, employ a large retinue of staff to look after their home in Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire.
