Hues of realtiy
KATHMANDU: Without venturing into drastically different or unconventional styles, artist Ajay Deshar has captured the nature and people around him in a subtle magic.
His exhibition titled ‘Real Realism’ is on at the Singha Art Gallery.
“I decided to get closer to nature and bring out the realistic picture of Nepal and its people,” said Deshar of his exhibition.
The way he has been inspired by nature is evident in his landscapes of Lamjung and the outskirts of the Valley.
Though he is quite new in the art world, his works show a certain maturity in presentation. The maximum use of the colour blue has lent a fresh quality to his work.
Deshar’s portraits are very lifelike with blazing eyes and as he has captured the minute details of the facial expression, one is able to relate to his paintings on a emotional level too.
According to the artist, in Nepal art is not only appreciated but encouraged too. “People don’t just say the painting is nice and beautiful, but they also give suggestions and also criticise. This pushes any artist to improve,” he said.
(The exhibition is on till December 28)
