Kathmandu:

Management is the buzzword amongst today’s youngsters and many students aspire to work in the management level or any other fields where they can tackle corporate data instead of scientific calculations. Those who are studying accounts must be willing to handle greater budgets tomorrow. However, your aspirations will not bear fruit if you do not prepare the basics. SLC opens the door to pursue higher studies in the subjects of your interest and you stand a better chance with good preparation.

Do the columns of debit and credit confuse you? Or do you get baffled with the terms ‘office procedures’ and ‘general vouchers’? It is time to sit in the examination and how much endeavour you have put in the last two years will be tested at one go.

“The more you practise, the more you get accustomed with the topics, hence, those who have practised throughout the year, hardly face any problems. If you are worried right before your examination is going to start then there are certain topics which only can save you,” shares Gyan Raj Gautam, accounts teacher, Kathmandu Don Bosco School, Naya Baneshwor. These topics, says Gautam are: “Questions on office, office procedures are mostly repeated with a slight twist.” Rabin Dahal, head of department, accounts, Nobel College, tips, “Students should emphasise on solid mark questions. Data sheet preparation and point-wise revision help a lot during exams.” Students can always consult past year questions which not only give the idea of question pattern but also help answer easily.

The important thing is to keep your cool during the examination. Gautam advises, “Preparing for long answer questions is very beneficial. This gives a good perception to examiner, even if you don’t answer everything correctly, your endeavour to attempt to counts.”
