In search of Genius

KATHMANDU:

This year the Horlicks quiz contest has a twist. It has been renamed and students will be quizzed on more than their knowledge of numbers.

The Horlicks Genius 2007, organised by Horlicks in association with Kathmandu University High School, is said to be different from the Mathematics Quiz that used to be held in the earlier years. The focus of this year’s quiz “transcends Mathematics and numbers and evolves into a full-fledged quiz contest that tests the students’ knowledge of a repertoire of subjects like Geography, History and Current Affairs, among others”.

The contest is a unique opportunity for schools to promote their smartest students and a platform for students to showcase their general knowledge.

The qualifying rounds will be held in 16 centres across the country between June 23-30. Four best teams from each centre will qualify for the quarter-finals, which will be held on the same day at the same centre that will decide the best team from the centre.

Sixteen best teams will qualify for semi-finals to be held in Kathmandu. Four semi-final rounds with four teams participating in each round will be held. The highest scoring team from each semi-final round will make it to the final round to compete for the title of Horlicks Genius Nepal 2007 to be held in July.
