Innovative fashion

KATHMANDU:

Whether fashion is flourishing in Nepal is a doubtful question, however, the recent flurry of fashion shows in the Capital and mushrooming fashion schools definitely tell a lot about the growing awareness in the field.

Believing that it’s time to make a definitive fashion statement, Namuna College of Fashion Technology (NCFT) organised ‘The Journey of Fashion — Part 2 Flame of Innovation’ on

September 2 at Hotel Yak and Yeti. The show was organised to mark the graduation ceremony of the second batch of NCFT students.

This is the third fashion event that the Capital has seen in the recent months after Catmandu Catwalk and Nepal Fashion Week.

The show — ‘Flame of Innovation’ — comprised seven rounds of sequences namely ‘Modification of traditional dress’, ‘Draped garments’, ‘Creative wear’, ‘Patriotism’, ‘Prints’, ‘Bajura dress and trend 2007’ by the sixteen students. And many were seen walking the ramp in their creations.

Though the style statements were subdued in essence, the students had definitely found the definitive expression in their creative designs. The majority of the designs were for women.

The proceeds of the event will be donated to GIFT Bajura, a non-profit non-governmental organisation working for the uplift of the underprivileged children.
