Kathmandu:
The singer of such classic hits as “Yasto Pani Hundo Raichha”, “Rato Ra Chandra Surya”, “Marna Baru Garho Hunna” and “Sannani ko Galaima” still mesmerises. The energy and power that he exudes while performing still shakes up people. Especially when they get to know that he is on the verge of completing seven decades of his life. Phatteman is living history in Nepali music and has set a milestone in terms of standards for singers here. An artiste who started humming bhajans at 10, he has spent more than half-a-century rendering voice to some underground and some very famous poets in the land. His voice was first heard during the early days of Radio Nepal.
When this great singer came in contact with nepa~laya in 2002, it was all about giving a new dimension to his voice and music again. His recent live concert has been more than a hit. Musician Aavas has worked with the legendary singer for some three years, recreating his compositions, and ‘Phatteman at 70’, an album, is soon to be launched. It might hearten many a music lover that “Kina Aauncha” — one of the songs from his album — is being single released for Radio Broadcast on Thursday. The album contains eight songs and all the songs have been composed by Aavas.
