NRT lift trophy
LALITPUR: New Road Team (NRT) clinched the Nepal Bank ‘A’ Division Junior Football League Championship with a 2-1 win over NIBL Friends Club in final here on Thursday. Sabin Moktan put NRT ahead in the 14th minute before Sunil Thapa extended their lead in the 28th minute. Rishi Thapa Magar pulled one back for Friends in the 36th minute. Sujan KC of Nabil Three Star Club was declared the best forward while Hemanta Gurung of Sankata the best midfielder. Likewise, Lalit Bahadur Rokka of Friends and Ashish Tamang of Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) were adjudged the best defender and best goalkeeper respectively. Sebak Siwakoti of RCT and Rishi Thapa Magar of Friends finished joint top scorers with seven goals each. The winners received Rs 100,000 and runners Rs 50,000. The losing semi-finalists RCT and Sankata also earned Rs 25,000 each. — HNS
Baluwatar in final
KATHMANDU: Baluwatar Cricket Club advanced to the final of the U-19 Kathmandu District Selection Tournament despite a 21-run defeat against Nava Jagaruk Club (NJC) here on Friday. Batting first, NJC scored 169-8 thanks to Kiran Budha’s half century (56).
In reply, Baluwatar were all out for 148 in 33.4 overs with Indra Kamal Manandhar
scoring 41 runs. Baluwatar advanced on better net run rate than NJC and Nava Pragatisil Samaz in Group ‘B’. All three teams in the group earned equal three points with one win each. Baluwatar will meet Group ‘A’ winner New Vision Club in final on Saturday. — HNS
NIMS beat Daffodil
KATHMANDU: Niten Memorial School (NIMS) beat hosts Daffodil ‘B’ 56-39 and Galaxy Public School overcame Lovely Angels 28-18 in the Daffodil Cup boys’ basketball tournament on Thursday. NIMS and Galaxy also won in the girls’ basketball. NIMS defeated Daffodil 21-7 and Galaxy saw off Himalaya 12-5. In junior football, Bibek Thapa struck a hat-trick as Learning Realm International saw off Nepal Armed Police Force School 8-6. New Summit got a walkover win from Galaxy. — HNS
