LONDON:

U2 lead singer Bono plans to spend about $240 million to turn the hotel he owns in his native Dublin into a resort shaped like a Viking boat.

Bono and U2 guitarist Dave Evans alias The Edge bought the 156-year-old Clarence Hotel in 1992. The two have now hired famous architect Sir Norman Foster to turn the hotel into the shape of a Viking boat, reported contactmusic.com. The city council has passed the plans but some locals are against it because parts of many historic buildings around will have to be

destroyed to construct the resort.
