Lohan was desperate to be Spears
HOLLYWOOD: Hollywood singer-actress Lindsay Lohan has disclosed that she was desperate to follow the footsteps of her idol, pop singing sensation, Britney Spears and wanted to remain as the centre of attraction always.
Lohan tastes stardom when she was just 12. She had made an appearance in Disney movie ‘The Parent Trap’ before she gained spotlight with the 2004 movie ‘Mean Girls’. She was a constant member of party circuit in Los Angeles, but slowly lost the control of her life. She had been arrested twice during 2007 for drunken driving charges. Lohan has also spent time to get rid of her ‘devil’ habits in a rehabilitation centre. She was in the limelight after she revealed her sexual orientation for DJ Samantha Ronson.
The star now admits she always knew the pitfalls of fame because she watched the ‘Toxic’ hit maker's meteoric rise as a youngster.
"Everyone goes through tough times. I think I've always kind of aspired to be like Britney Spears in the tabloids when I was in middle school. It's kind of something you sign up for in the beginning and if you really want it, you know that comes with it," she said.
But the 23-year-old Lohan is keen on undergoing a complete makeover so that she can have a fresh start.
"There are things I would like to take back and I always say that, but there aren't many things that I regret doing, because I wouldn't have learned from them, and I wouldn't be where I am today”, Lohan said.
"I think it's taken me a long time to learn how to love myself before I could love someone else too - whether it be a best friend or family or someone that I'm in a relationship with," she said.
