LOS ANGELES: Madonna has revealed the main reason she quit the UK was because she hated being called Madge.

The Material Girl singer — who moved from London to New York following her divorce form British director husband Guy Ritchie — ‘can’t stand’ being referred to by the nickname because of the connotations it has.

She said, “That’s one of the reasons I left England — so I don’t have to hear the word ‘Madge’ any more. Some people say, Madge is a colloquialism for a boring middle-aged housewife. And other people say it’s short for Majesty.”

The 51-year-old superstar — who is dating 22-year-old Brazilian model Jesus Luz — also revealed she only finds younger men attractive.

She said, “Younger people are more adventurous. Have you met many guys my age? They’re usually grumpy and fat and balding. As long as they’re old enough to dress themselves, they’re good enough.”
