Manisha in Bansalis next

KATHMANDU: The Reporters’ Club on March 26 was filled with a cluster of journalists as usual. But unlike regular political programmes, the club witnessed a different scene. Instead of political leaders, the guest speaker was well known Bollywood actor Manisha Koirala.

Though not a political programme per se, the queries basically dwelt around politics as she was asked more about the personality of her recently expired granduncle late Girija Prasad Koirala.

“Though I could not spend much time with him, I always found him as a strong leader of the country,” she said adding that she loved him a lot but was afraid of his strict persona.

Recollecting her last meeting with late Koirala, she said, “Two years ago when my brother got married, he could not attend the ceremony, so I took my brother and sister-in-law to receive blessings from him. Then he complained that no one cared him about except when they actually needed him,” adding that those words deeply touched her.

She also recalled his sense of humour and revealed, “Though

he was fully into politics, we

never talked about politics. He used to mockingly say he would go to Mumbai with me to get rid of politics.”

Asked about her production house and upcoming projects, she said that for the time being she has not planned any projects for her production house. However, she said that she is doing a couple of movies including one with director Sanjay Leela Bansali. She also promised to work in Nepali movies whenever she gets a good script that suits her.
