Medicine to music
Alban came to Sweden to study dentistry. Soon, he became interested in music and worked as a deejay at a well-known club in Stockholm called Alphabet Street. His name became well known in no time as the DJ who liked to sing along with his records. In 1990 he met the legendary Denniz Pop. Alban realised his dream as an artist together with Denniz Pop. Alongside, he finished his education and became a legitimate dentist. He went on to release the double single ‘Hello Africa / No Coke’ that soon became a smash hit. They followed up with the album ‘Hello Africa’, ‘One Love’, ‘Look Who’s Talking’ ‘Born In Africa’ and ‘The Best Of’. His second album ‘One Love’ sold over three million copies and the third sold over 1.2 million copies worldwide! Alban as Dr Alban has sold over 11 million albums and singles worldwide!
His music is about wisdom, freedom and love. His style has changed from reggae and euro disco to radio friendly guitar pop with reggae influences.
