KATHMANDU:

Commemorating the 95th birth anniversary of litterateur Siddhicharan Shrestha, the Siddhicharan Pratisthan launched the translated version (in English) of Shrestha’s Jail Samskaran on May 23.

To pay tribute to the venerated poet, many of the great literary giants recited poetry in respect of his genius. Present on the occasion were Govind Bahadur Malla, Bishnu Charan Shrestha, Manik Lal, Shyam Das Shrestha and Ishwor Ballav, among others. Speaking on the occasion, Laxmi Devi Raj Bhandari, the author of Memories of Jail said, “This effort would only be a small gesture of respect that we all have for the poet whose legacy will be cherished by all Nepalis.” — HNS
