Minogue defends her album

LONDON:

Australian singer Kylie Minogue defends her latest album X from critics who said it was too impersonal. Minogue released the album after she recovered from breast cancer and did not want to remind herself of that struggle by writing songs about her fight with the disease. Ananova.com quoted her as saying, “The only bit of criticism was saying that it wasn’t that personal. Having been ill, I didn’t want to write about being ill, not a whole album. I wanted, for my own sake, to do what I do, which is songs like Wow, In my arms, 2 hearts.” She thinks if she had done the opposite and written songs about her battle she would have still faced criticism, “If I had done an album that was totally personal there would be comments the other way.” — HNS
