Movies were just for money: Depp

LONDON:

Actor Johnny Depp says he never wanted to be an actor and that music was his “first love”. Depp is currently promoting his new movie Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street, reports contactmusic.com. Depp sings his own songs in the movie and reveals that he became interested in movies only because there was more money to make. He said, “I never wanted to be an actor. It just seemed like a good way to make easy money. I didn’t care what the movies were. If they’re going to pay me, fine.” Depp joined a rock band in his teens and played at parties in his neighbourhood. Depp called playing at parties “absolute perfection” and felt he was meant to be in music.

He added, “It was freedom. Right off the bat, there was no question; I had found my future.” — HNS
