KATHMANDU:
The First WeSoBD (Welfare Society for Blinad and Disabled) Music Award for the Physically Challenged was lifted by Prativa Tamang from Dharan who brought the house down with her rendition of Sukmit Gurung’s Pal pal.
The first runner-up was Prakash Timalsena of Morang, while the second runner-up was Asha Rai also from Dharan.
On the afternoon of September 17, the Russian Culture Centre echoed with songs old and new, own compositions (Pushkal Khatiwada) and cover versions. While some renditions took us back to the Bansuri days with ...jhajhalko aayechha sawan, some took us far away along to the lyrics Ma ta dur dekhi aye. What was remarkable was the confidence with which the seven participants sang and the quality of performances that one got to witness.
One of the judges Deepak Jangam said he was surprised at the quality of the programme. He said he did not expect such a great performance, and put the all the artistes on par with other national artistes.
Jung Bahadur Bogati was also felicitated at the programme, which was graced by Sashikala Singh as the chief guest. The other judge of the contest was Prabhuraj Dhakal.
