Kathmandu:
Biodiversity and Humanity, our lives are linked”, a photo exhibition of pictures related to the protection and conservation of nature and other endangered species is being held on the premises of Alliance Francaise from May 16. Nicolai Holot pour la Nature et l’Homme - a foundation created in 1990 to change individual behaviour and make it protective of our planet through the sustainable development approach - is the organiser of the exhibition.
The exhibition comprises photographs focusing on society, endangered species, under-privileged people, food and conservation of nature. A picture of a dead ape lying on the ground being stared at blandly by villagers expresses the plight of animals that are facing the threat of extinction. There are other pictures, which shed light on how the selfishness and ruthlessness of us humans has led towards the degeneration of nature and the life of its inhabitants. Posters pointing towards the facts and figures about the present situation of biodiversity and conservation are also an added attraction of the exhibition. The foundation has been working for National Geographic Channel and has produced a number of documentaries based on biodiversity. “The photographs were bought over by the French Ministry and is taking it around the world the next being Brazil,” Prabin Bikram Rana, deputy director, Alliance Francaise, informs adding, “The main aim of this exhibition is to raise awareness amongst the people of today about biodiversity and conservation.”
