Nepal is Lonely Planet founder’s fav place

KATHMANDU: Lonely Planet founder Tony Wheeler has named Nepal as his favourite place, according to a new book from the National Geographic.

International celebrities were asked to name their favorite places in the world in the book called My Favourite Place on Earth. The answers range from Nepal to Brooklyn (named after the Dutch town Breukelen) which is one of the five boroughs of New York City.

The other destinations named in the book include Jerusalem, mentioned by actress Natalie Portman; Arud in Bali, Indonesia, named by travel guru Arthur Frommer; Kauai in Hawaii listed by Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons; Trinidad, the choice of basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar;

Monument Valley on the border of Arizona and Utah, chosen by George Lucas, Star Wars creator, and Brooklyn named by fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi.
